If the Volume label and the Volume Serial number are the same, Windows assumes that the disc is the same disc. Checking all of the file names on disc to see if they are the same or not would impact performance. By specification for the file system, each unique disc should have a unique serial number. It looks like your Yamaha is not doing this. Actually I did not understand your problem well, but to reset CDROM cache you can try to eject the media and put it back.
You can do it from command line or batch file using our SDK samples. If it is not work for you please clarify the problem. Let me try to explain better what king of issue we are having step by step. Each CD has different data. Is it has own device drivers or using standard cdrom. But standard drivers do not provide such kind of blind caching of files that can show wrong data on the disk.
Also some 3rd party burning applications may require ejecting the disk after burning. I finally had occasion to do another set of CDs in the Yamaha workstation and while copying I did check the volume label and serial number.
Seems to be to be a shortcut taken here that is causing the problem on the back end, even though one could argue the Yamaha should handle this differently on the front end. Or, maybe Windows could have an option to switch between the two methods.
I'd take slower performance to rescan the volume's contents in exchange for NOT having to reboot between discs to copy 8 CDs with.
We have the same problem. We use Nero for burning CDs. We have an image file nrg. This file have the content of CD. We change one file in the content an burn the cd, but windows shows me the old content when i insert a other cd before. Very confused! Yep, that's exactly the behavior I see. I've since continued to try and find a workaround but even last night as I was doing yet another file copy off multiple CDs, burned from a CD Recorder, I had to reboot each time to clear the cache and get Windows 7 to display the correct new filename.
